Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup chickpeas, drained and rinsed Use high-quality canned or cook your own from dried for maximum flavor
  • 1/2 cup tahini Look for brands that use 100% sesame seeds — extra creaminess is the goal
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice Freshly squeezed is best; trust me, it makes a difference
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Adjust to taste; roasted garlic can be a sweet alternative
  • 1/4 cup olive oil Use a good quality extra virgin olive oil for richness
  • 1 teaspoon cumin This adds a lovely warm spice — feel free to increase for extra depth
  • to taste salt Salt Start with 1/4 teaspoon and adjust as needed
For Dipping
  • assorted pieces fresh vegetables for dipping (Carrots, cucumbers, radishes, or peppers) Create a colorful platter

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) if you prefer your dip warm.
  2. In your blender, combine the chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, cumin, and salt.
  3. Blend until smooth — this may take a minute or two. You want it creamy without any chunks.
  4. Spoon the mixture into a bowl: if you’re baking, spread the mix into an oven-safe dish.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes until it’s warm and slightly golden on top.
  6. Serve immediately with fresh vegetables for dipping. For a cold version, simply serve without baking!

Notes

Make sure that your chickpeas are at room temperature for easier blending. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash of water or more olive oil for a smoother texture. Avoid over-blending as it can cause the dip to become too airy and lose its thickness.
