Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream, softened slightly Opt for high-quality ice cream like Haagen-Dazs or Ben & Jerry’s.
  • 1/2 cup whole milk Whole milk gives this milkshake its creaminess.
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract Feel free to splurge on pure vanilla extract for a more authentic flavor.
  • whipped cream, optional, for topping Choose homemade or store-bought.
  • maraschino cherry, optional, for topping A fun garnish that brings that classic milkshake vibe.

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by allowing the ice cream to soften for about 10 minutes.
  2. Place the softened vanilla ice cream, whole milk, and vanilla extract into a blender.
  3. Blend on high speed until the mixture is smooth and creamy, about 30 to 60 seconds.
  4. If the milkshake is too thick, add a bit more milk, one tablespoon at a time, and blend until you reach your desired thickness.
  5. Pour the milkshake into a tall glass.
  6. Top with a generous dollop of whipped cream and finish it off with a maraschino cherry.
  7. Enjoy immediately.

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh, but leftover milkshake can be stored in the freezer for a few hours. Let sit at room temperature to soften before consuming.
