Ingredients

Base Ingredients
  • 2 cups tortilla chips Opt for thicker chips like restaurant-style or organic brands for sturdiness.
  • 1 can refried beans Recommended: Amy's organic for flavor and creaminess.
  • 1 cup salsa Choose your favorite brand or make your own.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Mexican blend or a combo of sharp cheddar and Monterey Jack for an extra touch.
Toppings
  • 1 cup guacamole Freshly made is always best!
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes Fresh preferred, but canned is fine in a pinch.
  • 1 cup sour cream Greek yogurt can be a lighter substitute.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Spread tortilla chips in a single layer on a baking sheet.
Cooking
  1. Layer refried beans evenly over the chips, followed by salsa and a generous layer of shredded cheese.
  2. Bake for about 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and turns golden.
Serving
  1. Carefully remove from the oven and top with guacamole, diced tomatoes, and sour cream.
  2. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

Make sure chips are sturdy enough and avoid overloading them to prevent sogginess. Leftovers best stored in an airtight container for 1-2 days.
