  • 1 lb fresh salmon or 1 can (14.75 oz) canned salmon Opt for wild-caught salmon for richer flavor.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Whole-grain options are recommended for added fiber.
  • 1 egg Acts as a natural binder.
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion Sauté for additional sweetness.
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice For a zesty flavor.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Season generously for flavor.
  • Oil for frying Heat oil before adding patties.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. If using fresh salmon, cook it and then flake it into small pieces. If using canned salmon, drain and flake.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flaked salmon, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, chopped onion, parsley, lemon juice, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Shape mixture into patties about 1 inch thick.
Cooking
  1. Heat oil in a heavy skillet over medium heat. Cook patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
Serving
  1. Serve the salmon patties on fresh lettuce leaves or in mini brioche buns with a dollop of homemade tartar sauce and a lemon wedge.
