Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients and mix well.
- Stir in boiling water until well combined. The batter will be thin.
- Pour batter evenly into the prepared pans.
Baking
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.
Assembly
- Once cooled, layer the cakes with whipped cream and strawberries.
- Frost the top and sides with whipped cream.
- Decorate with chocolate shavings and additional strawberries.
Notes
Store leftover cake in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You can also bake the cakes a day in advance.
