Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Butter an 8x8 baking dish to prevent sticking.
  3. In a mixing bowl, toss the chopped Golden Delicious apples with ½ cup of granulated sugar, ¾ teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice.
  4. Let the apple mixture sit for about 5 minutes to draw out some juices.
Assembly
  1. Transfer the seasoned apples into the prepared baking dish, spreading them evenly.
  2. In another bowl, combine the ½ cup of brown sugar, 1 cup of old-fashioned oats, ½ cup of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and ¼ teaspoon of kosher salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Evenly spread the topping over the apples.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 40-50 minutes, looking for a golden brown color and bubbling juices.
  2. Allow to cool before serving.
Serving
  1. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for longer storage. You can also assemble parts of this recipe a day in advance.
