Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with granulated and brown sugar until smooth and light, about 2 to 3 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, scraping down the bowl after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chopped cherries until evenly distributed.
- Using a cookie scoop or spoon, place dough onto ungreased baking sheets about 2 inches apart.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 3 to 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Storage
- Store cooled cookies in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
Notes
For best results, use high-quality ingredients. You can prepare the dough ahead of time and freeze it for longer shelf life.
