Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef Use high-quality beef for a richer flavor. You can swap in turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese A mix of Monterey Jack and cheddar offers the best flavor. Feel free to use pre-shredded cheese for convenience!
  • 1 can black beans Drained and rinsed well for a fresh taste.
  • 1 cup salsa Choose your favorite brand or make your own for a burst of freshness.
  • 1 package tortilla chips Look for sturdy, thicker chips that can hold up to the toppings.
  • 1 piece avocado, diced Freshly added right before serving for the ultimate creamy finish.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil A healthy fat to help brown the beef.
  • 1 teaspoon cumin Adds an earthy, warm depth to the beef.
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder Adjust based on how spicy you want your dish!

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat Your Oven: Set the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). This ensures your Loaded Nacho Bake cooks evenly.
  2. Brown The Beef: In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef, cumin, and chili powder. Cook until browned (about 5-7 minutes), breaking it up with a wooden spoon.
  3. Layer It Up: In a large baking dish, begin layering your tortilla chips as the base. Top with the cooked beef, drained black beans, and half of the salsa. Then sprinkle cheese on top.
  4. Bake to Perfection: Place your baking dish in the oven and bake for about 15 minutes, or until the cheese is thoroughly melted and bubbly.
  5. Toppings Galore: Remove the nacho bake from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Top generously with diced avocado.

Notes

Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days. You can prepare the layers in advance and bake as instructed when ready. Adjust chili powder and salsa to your spice preferences.
