Ingredients

For the Hot Honey
  • 1 cup honey Use high-quality, pure honey for the best flavor. Local honey is an excellent choice.
  • 3 tbsp Louisiana-style hot sauce The classic blend adds just the right amount of heat and tang. Crystal Hot Sauce is recommended.
  • ½ tsp dried red pepper flakes Increase this for more warmth if you're a spice fanatic.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine all ingredients—1 cup of honey, 3 tablespoons of Louisiana-style hot sauce, and ½ teaspoon of dried red pepper flakes.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a small saucepan over low heat. Allow it to warm gently, stirring occasionally, until it is well combined and slightly runny, about 5-7 minutes. Be careful not to let it come to a boil.
  3. Look for a beautiful golden color, with the hot sauce mixed thoroughly through the honey.
  4. Once everything is combined, remove it from the heat and let it cool for about 10-15 minutes.
  5. Transfer to a sealed jar and allow cooling completely before sealing tightly.

Notes

Store your hot honey in an airtight container at room temperature for optimal taste. If properly sealed, it will last for at least three months. For variations, adding a splash of apple cider vinegar or garlic can enhance flavors.
