Ingredients
  

Dough & Sauce
  • 1 pound pizza dough Can use store-bought or homemade, at room temperature.
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce A quality brand like Rao’s is recommended.
Cheese & Fillings
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Whole milk mozzarella for better meltiness.
  • 1/4 cup sliced pepperoni Turkey pepperoni for a healthier option.
  • 1/4 cup sliced green bell peppers Adds sweetness and crunch.
  • 1/4 cup sliced onions Vidalia onions recommended for sweetness.
  • 1/4 cup sliced mushrooms Cremini mushrooms for an earthy flavor.
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives Optional, adds a briny bite.
Seasoning & Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder Fresh minced garlic also works.
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Extra virgin for the best flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle, about ¼ inch thick.
  3. Spread marinara sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  4. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  5. Layer the sliced pepperoni, green bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, and black olives over the cheese.
  6. Sprinkle garlic powder, dried oregano, and dried basil on top.
  7. Starting from one longer edge, tightly roll the dough into a log shape.
  8. Place the stromboli seam side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  9. Brush the top with olive oil.
  10. Make a few slits on top to allow steam to escape.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden-brown.
  12. Remove from the oven, cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve warm.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Freeze for 2-3 months, wrapped tightly.
