Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Cream the butter and sugars until light and fluffy—about 3 minutes.
  3. Incorporate the egg and vanilla extract and mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the flour, baking soda, and salt, mixing until a tacky dough forms.
  5. Gently fold in the M&Ms or sprinkles.
Baking
  1. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop 24 small portions of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  2. Bake for about 12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown but the centers look slightly underbaked.
  3. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
