Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 4-5 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the butter mixture until a soft dough forms.
- Use a medium cookie scoop to drop dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
Baking
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are golden and the centers are set.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
Glazing
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Stir in the granulated sugar and water; cook until dissolved.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and powdered sugar until smooth and glossy.
- Spoon the glaze over warm cookies and allow to set for about 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or in the fridge for up to two weeks. Freezing unglazed cookies is also an option, just glaze once thawed.
