Ingredients
Method
Cook the Bacon
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add your diced bacon and cook until it reaches a deep brown and crispy texture, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the bacon and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess grease.
- Use a splatter guard to avoid grease splatters.
Sauté the Onion and Asparagus
- Carefully pour out all but 1 tablespoon of bacon grease from the skillet. Add the diced onion and asparagus to the hot pan. Cook for 1 minute until the onions are slightly translucent, and the asparagus begins to brighten in color.
- Look for the asparagus to turn a vibrant green without overcooking.
Add Water and Steam
- Add ½ cup of water to the pan, cover it, and let it steam for about 2-3 minutes until the asparagus becomes tender-crisp.
Flavor Time
- Once the water has evaporated, lower the heat and add in the brown sugar, butter, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper to taste. Stir and cook for another 1-2 minutes until beautifully coated.
- Watch the mixture carefully to prevent burning the sugars.
Combine the Bacon
- Chop the crisp bacon into bite-sized pieces and add it back into the skillet, stirring well to combine.
Serve and Enjoy
- Transfer your beautifully glazed asparagus with bacon to a serving dish.
Notes
Let your butter sit at room temperature before using for smooth mixing. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
