For the trifle
  • 1 9-inch angel food cake, cut into bite-size cubes (about 7 cups) A quality cake for the best texture and flavor.
  • 1.25 cups orange curd, store-bought or homemade Elevates the dessert with vibrant citrus flavor.
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream Ensure it’s cold for better whipping results.
  • 0.5 cups confectioners’ sugar Adds sweetness to balance the tangy curd.
  • Mint, for garnish (optional) Adds a touch of green for color and freshness.
  • Orange slices, for garnish (optional) Enhances visual appeal and provides flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, pour in the heavy whipping cream. Beat on medium-high speed until the cream thickens, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Gradually add the confectioners’ sugar and continue whipping until soft peaks form, about another 1-2 minutes.
  3. Use a trifle bowl or large glass dish. Place 1/3 of the angel food cake cubes at the bottom, followed by 1/3 of the whipped cream. Spread 1/2 of the orange curd over the whipped cream.
  4. Repeat the sequence with another 1/3 of cake, 1/3 of whipped cream, and finish with the remaining orange curd. End with a generous layer of whipped cream on top.
  5. Garnish with mint leaves and orange slices.
  6. Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate for a couple of hours to let the flavors meld.

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh but can store leftovers in the fridge for up to two days. Can prepare the orange curd a day ahead.
