Ingredients

Tofu Varieties
  • 1 block Frozen Soft Tofu Perfect for soups or stews.
  • 1 block Frozen Firm or Extra Firm Tofu Ideal for frying and stir-frying.
Cooking Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons Oil Use high-smoke point oils like vegetable or canola oil for frying.
  • 1/2 cup Sweet Chili Sauce For tossing cooked tofu; can use store-bought or homemade.
  • 2 cups Vegetables (optional) Fresh vegetables such as bell peppers, bok choy, or broccoli.

Method

Preparation
  1. Thaw the frozen tofu: Place the tofu in the refrigerator overnight, or soak it in room-temperature water for 30-60 minutes.
  2. Prepare the soft tofu: Cut the soft tofu into pieces and add to soups or stews at the end of cooking.
  3. Prepare the firm tofu: Press the firm tofu gently to remove excess water, cut it into larger pieces, and pat it dry.
Cooking
  1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan over high heat. Add the firm tofu pieces and sear for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  2. For a healthier option, brush the tofu with oil and air fry at 400°F (200°C) for about 12 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  3. After frying, toss the cooked tofu in sweet chili sauce or add it to a stir-fry towards the end of cooking.

Notes

Store thawed tofu in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Re-freezing is possible but may change the texture. Use various sauces like soy or teriyaki for different flavors.
