Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- In a medium bowl, add the softened cream cheese, 1 cup of granulated sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla extract. Mix on medium speed until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes. Set aside.
- Roll out one tube of crescent rolls and press it into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, sealing any seams to create a flat layer.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the layer of crescent rolls, ensuring it covers the entire surface.
- Roll out the second tube of crescent roll dough and lay it over the cream cheese layer.
Baking
- In a small bowl, beat the egg white until frothy, then brush it evenly over the top layer of dough.
- In another bowl, mix the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle it generously over the egg wash.
- Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
Cooling
- Let the bars cool at room temperature for 30 minutes. For the best texture, refrigerate them for at least 2 hours before slicing and serving.
Notes
Don’t rush the cooling process; chilling helps the bars set and enhances the flavor. If you have leftover cinnamon-sugar, sprinkle it on top just before serving for an extra touch!
