Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C).
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, 1 cup of chocolate chips, baking powder, sugar, and salt until well blended.
- Pour in the buttermilk and gently stir until mostly combined, leaving some lumps.
- Pour the melted butter into an 8x8-inch baking dish.
- Spoon the dough on top of the melted butter, spreading it to the edges.
- Lightly score the dough into 9 equal squares to ease serving.
- Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of chocolate chips on top and press them in slightly.
Baking
- Bake for 28-30 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to set for about 5-10 minutes before serving.
Notes
These biscuits are best enjoyed on the same day but can be stored for up to 2 days at room temperature in an airtight container.
