Method
Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let the mixture rest for 5 minutes, or until it becomes foamy.
- Pour half of the oil into the yeast mixture. Add the flour and salt; stir to form a sticky dough.
- Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F. Line a pizza pan with parchment paper and pour the remaining oil onto it.
Baking
- After rising, gently transfer the dough to the pan, using your hands to press it out to the edges evenly. Bake for about 10 minutes or until it turns lightly golden.
- Combine melted butter and sugar for the topping; brush it over the baked crust, then spread the cherry filling evenly on top.
- In a bowl, mix together flour, sugars, and salt for the topping. Stir in melted butter until clumps form, then sprinkle this mixture over the cherry filling.
- Pop the pizza back in the oven and bake for another 13-15 minutes until the crumble is golden brown.
Finishing Touch
- While it’s baking, whisk together confectioners’ sugar, milk, and almond extract until smooth.
- Once the pizza is out of the oven, drizzle the glaze generously over the warm pizza! Let it cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the fridge for up to a week. Best enjoyed warm.
