Ingredients
Method
Make the Blueberry Syrup
- In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of fresh blueberries, 3/4 cup granulated sugar, and 1 cup of cold water. Bring this mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Stir frequently until the sugar completely dissolves, and the blueberries begin to burst, about 5-7 minutes.
Prepare the Mixture
- After the blueberries have burst, gently mash them with a fork or the back of a spoon to release more flavor.
- Place a fine mesh sieve over a medium bowl and carefully pour the blueberry mixture through it. Using the back of a spoon, press down on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids.
- In a large pitcher, mix your strained blueberry syrup with 1 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice and the remaining 3 cups of cold water. Stir it all together to combine beautifully.
Serve
- Fill a tall glass with crushed ice, pour the lemonade over it, and top with lemon slices and a few fresh blueberries for a gorgeous presentation.
Notes
Store in an airtight pitcher in the fridge for up to 3 days. For a sweeter drink, adjust sugar to your liking. Consider adding mint or basil for an herbal twist.
