Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 6 bags black tea bags Opt for quality brands like Twinings or Harney & Sons for a rich flavor. You can use decaffeinated bags as well.
  • 6 cups water Always use filtered water for the best taste.
  • 1 cup blueberry simple syrup To make this, simmer equal parts sugar and water with fresh blueberries until the blueberries burst.
  • 1 lemon juice of about 4 tablespoons Roll your lemon on the counter before cutting; this makes juicing much easier.
  • Mint leaves (optional, for garnish) Fresh mint adds a beautiful aromatic finish.

Method

Preparation
  1. Boil the water in a saucepan until reaching a rolling boil.
  2. Remove from heat and add the black tea bags. Allow them to steep for 5 minutes.
  3. Remove the tea bags and pour the brewed tea into a large pitcher.
  4. Stir in the blueberry simple syrup and the juice of the lemon.
  5. Refrigerate until thoroughly chilled, about 2-3 hours.
  6. Serve over ice, garnish with lemon slices and mint leaves.

Notes

Store any leftover blueberry iced tea in the fridge for up to 3 days. The blueberry simple syrup can be made in advance and lasts in the fridge for about two weeks. For a tropical twist, add pineapple juice or slices of seasonal fruit.
