  • 2 cups frozen blackberries Can substitute with fresh blackberries or a mix of your favorite berries.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar White sugar or cane sugar can be used.
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch Can be substituted with arrowroot powder.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Use freshly squeezed for best results.
For the Crumble Topping
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour Recommended brand: King Arthur.
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened Use room temperature butter for easy mixing.
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar, packed Light or dark brown sugar is fine.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon adds a warm flavor.
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt Balances the sweetness.
  • 0.25 cup oats Use rolled oats for a chewier texture.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Grease a 9-inch pie dish with butter or cooking spray.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix the blackberries, sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice and let sit for 10 minutes.
  4. In another bowl, mix the flour, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt until crumbly.
Assembling
  1. Press half the crumble mixture into the bottom of the greased pie dish.
  2. Pour the blackberry filling over the crust.
  3. Sprinkle the remaining crumble mixture on top.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes.
  2. Let the pie cool for 15 to 20 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the filling. Avoid overcrowding the pie dish for even cooking.
