Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound russet potatoes About 2 large or 3 medium
  • 1 teaspoon neutral vegetable oil Adjust as needed; too much can lead to soggy fries
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Salt to taste salt Typically about 1/2 teaspoon

Method

Prep/Soak
  1. Scrub the potatoes clean to remove any dirt. Peeling is optional.
  2. Cut the potatoes into 1/4 – 1/2 inch thick fries.
  3. Soak the sliced fries in ice-cold water for 30 minutes to help remove excess starch.
Dry and Season
  1. Drain and rinse the fries under cold water.
  2. Pat the fries dry using paper towels.
  3. In a large bowl, toss the fries with just enough oil to coat them lightly. In a separate bowl, combine paprika, garlic powder, and pepper, then sprinkle and toss with the fries.
Air Fry
  1. Preheat the air fryer to its highest setting (around 400°F) for 5 minutes.
  2. Place the fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  3. Air fry at 385°F for 15 minutes, shaking the basket every 5 minutes for even cooking.
  4. Adjust cooking time by adding an extra 2-5 minutes for desired crispiness.
Salt and Serve
  1. Transfer the fries to a bowl and toss with salt to taste. Serve immediately for maximum crunch.

Notes

For the best results, ensure to soak the fries and dry them thoroughly before cooking. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
